Former Avenger star Diana Rigg was so worried about the kind of television programmes that young children were being subjected to that she decided to do something about it.
So she transformed her normally seductive image into a totally different role for her latest television part... as a witch. The result is the comic headmistress at a school for witches in tonight's made-for-television film The Worst Witch.
"This is what I think entertainment for young children should be about," she said. "I will not allow my eight-year-old daughter Rachael to watch programmes like Grange Hill. It's no good a producer saying that programmes like that show is what goes on in schools these days.
"What I want her to know is what life SHOULD be like."
